ASC & DLR Signed MoU Dec 7th

On December, 7th, Andøya Space Center (ASC) represented by the Department of Research and Development and the German Aerospace Center (DLR), represented by its Institute of Technical Physics, located in Stuttgart/Germany signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on future cooperation.

The MoU is aiming to strengthen the cooperation between the institutions in the fields of Space Situational Awareness (SSA), the tracking of aerial objects and the remote detection of hazardous containments.

SSA in general is monitoring any possible influence of Near Space related processes on human activity on Earth and in orbit. To name a few: Sun Storms, connected to Aurora; the threat of man-made and natural objects in orbit; disturbance of GNSS signals due to space weather.

In addition, the mutual exchange of personnel for advanced training purposes is planned.

Present activities at Andøya and DLR were introduced during a one day workshop, which already stimulated the discussion on possible collaborations.
