ASC and DLR to sign MoU Dec 7th

Andøya Space Center and the Institute of Technical Physics at DLR Stuttgart, Germany will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on future cooperation in the field of “Space Situational Awareness” (SSA). SSA comprises a variety of activities, just to name two, Space Weather and Space Debris.

The Institute of Technical Physics plans to install a laser system at Andøya, which at first will explore the precise orbit parameters of known geodetic satellites.

In the future, the experiences will enable the survey of orbits and the characterisation of different types of space debris, which is an increasing problem for manned and unmanned space activities.

On December 07th, ASC hosts a small symposium around the signature of the MoU, where the DLR project, plans and ongoing activities at ASC presents.

The DLR presentations and discussions will take place in the Kristian Birkeland Auditorium at Andøya Space Center from 14:00 to 18:30.
